Founded in 2008 by owner and ISA Certified Arborist Justin Drissel (RM-8191A), Big Horn Tree Service brought professional tree climbing skills and forestry expertise from Northwest Oregon back home to Grand Junction. Driven by a commitment to preserve our local urban forest for future generations, we established the Big Horn Community Give Back initiative. Once per year, our team donates 100% free tree trimming or hazardous removal services to a nominated Grand Valley homeowner facing genuine physical or financial hardship.

To ensure our company’s kindness reaches neighbors in true need, all nominations must meet strict eligibility standards:

Owner-Occupied Primary Residence: Nominated properties must be single-family, owner-occupied homes within our Mesa County service area (Grand Junction, Redlands, Fruita, Palisade, Orchard Mesa, or Appleton). Commercial properties, rentals, flip projects, and homes listed for sale are strictly excluded.
Demonstrated Safety Risk: Services are restricted to trees posing legitimate safety risks, deadwood hazards, or structural threats to homes and utility lines. Cosmetic shaping or purely aesthetic requests do not qualify.
Mandatory On-Site Arborist Audit: Justin Drissel conducts an in-person assessment on finalist properties to verify structural hazard urgency, site access, and safety requirements.
No Cash Value & Non-Transferable: Donated tree services cannot be exchanged for cash, credited toward past balances, or transferred to secondary locations.

Big Horn Tree Community Give Back Program – Terms & Conditions(Required)

1. Program Scope & Selection Discretion

Annual Award Limit: The Big Horn Community Give Back program awards up to one (1) complimentary tree trimming, pruning, or tree removal service per calendar year.

Sole Discretion: Big Horn Tree Service and ISA Certified Arborist Justin Drissel retain complete, absolute, and unappealable discretion over all nomination reviews, property evaluations, and finalist selections.

No Obligation: Submission of a nomination form does not create a contract, legal duty, or guarantee of service for any party.

2. Eligibility & Verification Safeguards

Residential Property Only: Eligible properties must be single-family, owner-occupied primary residences located within the Big Horn Tree Service Mesa County service area (Grand Junction, Redlands, Fruita, Palisade, Orchard Mesa, or Appleton).

Strict Exclusions: Commercial properties, rental units, real estate listings, house flips, and government-owned properties are strictly excluded from participation.

Proof of Ownership: The selected nominee must provide legal proof of property ownership and primary residence prior to project scheduling.

3. Safety Audits, Site Access & Right of Refusal

Mandatory On-Site Inspection: All candidate properties must undergo an in-person safety and site assessment conducted by Justin Drissel to evaluate structural integrity, utility line clearance, and equipment access.

Right of Cancellation/Refusal: Big Horn Tree Service reserves the right to decline or abort work if the site presents unmanageable safety hazards, structural risks to neighboring properties, uncooperative terrain, or legal boundary disputes.

Standard Liability Waiver: The selected property owner must sign Big Horn Tree Service’s standard Work Authorization Release and Hold Harmless Agreement prior to work commencing.

4. Non-Transferability & Valuation

Zero Cash Value: Donated services hold zero cash value, are completely non-transferable, and cannot be redeemed for cash, refunds, or property credits.

No Debt Adjustments: Donated services cannot be applied toward past-due accounts, current contracted work, or future commercial estimates.

5. Media & Publicity Release

Promotion Authorization: By accepting the awarded service, the recipient grants Big Horn Tree Service full authorization to capture, edit, and publish photographs, drone footage, and videos of the tree work for website, marketing, social media, and local news coverage.

6. Program Modification & Termination

Big Horn Tree Service reserves the right to alter, suspend, or terminate the Community Give Back program or update these terms at any time without prior liability or notice.
